Ubiquiti has detailed UniFi Network 10.6, a release aimed squarely at people who manage more than one site and more than a handful of devices. The headline additions are Topology Spotlight, wider Time Machine coverage, nightly Channel AI automation, an expanded SafeOps rollback net and a new High Availability Readiness Score for consoles and gateways.
None of it is new hardware. This is a software release about seeing problems sooner, automating routine tuning, and making a bad configuration push survivable rather than a site visit. That combination matters most for remote management, which is where a lot of Australian integrator work now lives.
Two of the features are flagged as arriving in Early Access rather than shipping in the general build, so it is worth reading the release as partly a roadmap.
Topology views are useful right up until a site has a few hundred clients on it, at which point the map becomes noise. Topology Spotlight collapses devices that are not relevant to the group of clients you are investigating, so the path you care about stays visible.
It is a presentation change rather than a new diagnostic engine, but presentation is most of the battle when you are troubleshooting somebody else’s network over a remote session.
Time Machine, the historical playback view, now appears in both the Radios Overview and the Ports Overview. That means you can look back at how an access point or a switch port actually behaved rather than relying on a user’s recollection of when things went bad.
On the wireless side, Channel AI can now run on a nightly schedule instead of being triggered manually. Ubiquiti has also previewed a Multicast Suppressor intended to stop broadcast and multicast traffic from eating airtime in dense wireless environments.
The first phase of port security arrives as simple port locking, letting an administrator tie a port to a UniFi device so a PoE connection cannot be quietly repurposed. Alongside that, SafeOps now covers management VLAN changes with test-and-confirm behaviour, so a device that loses contact after a bad push reverts to its last working configuration.
Bulk device updates also get finer control, which is the sort of thing you only appreciate when you are staging firmware across dozens of switches. Two features carry prerequisites and are not in the general release yet.

For multi-site operators, Blueprints picks up a Drift Inspector that flags where a site has deviated from its approved template and which exceptions have been signed off. The new High Availability Readiness Score summarises whether single points of failure across ISP, power and gateway have actually been removed.
That last one is a quietly useful nudge. Plenty of sites have redundant WAN on paper while the whole rack still hangs off one unprotected circuit, which is a conversation about uninterruptible power supplies more than it is about networking.
For prosumers running a single home or small office site, UniFi Network 10.6 is a modest but welcome iteration. Nightly Channel AI is the change most people will notice, and SafeOps covering management VLAN edits removes one of the classic ways to lock yourself out of your own gear.
Integrators get the most from this release. Topology Spotlight and Time Machine in the Ports Overview shorten remote diagnosis, Drift Inspector gives you evidence when a client insists nothing was changed, and granular bulk updates make maintenance windows less of a grind across a fleet.
SMB IT should treat the High Availability Readiness Score as a to-do list rather than a badge. It is a genuinely helpful prompt to check whether dual WAN, battery backup and gateway redundancy are all real, but it does not create resilience on its own — cabling, power and hardware do that.
Our advice is the usual: let the Early Access items settle before you rely on port locking or Multicast Suppressor in production, and note the firmware prerequisites when you plan upgrades.
